Facebook security issue affects 50 million accounts

What happened at Facebook?


iphone inside screen-87On Friday, 28 September 2018 Facebook made a statement that an attack on its computer network had potentially exposed the personal information of nearly 50 million users.

The attackers exploited the "View As" feature that allows users to see their Facebook page the way someone else would. This could allow the attackers to take over Facebook accounts.

Facebook fixed this issue and informed law enforcement. They do not know if the affected accounts were misused or if user information was actually accessed.

As a business owner and/or digital consumer, you may know the importance of changing your passwords frequently. Make sure you consult with your IT support team to make sure your data is safe and a breach has not occurred.
